Childrens Pastor
BIOGRAPHY
Hi, I'm Pastor Corri Howland and I have been a member of New Hope Community Church since 2007. Since I was young, I had dreamed of being a teacher and planned to go to Framingham State College to pursue this. However, in 2000, during my junior year of high school, I attended a church tent meeting at Framingham Center eld. As the Zion Bible College Choir sang, I felt the call of God to attend Zion. After two years of prayer, I decided to put my teaching desire on hold for a bit and follow God's leading. It was a tough choice because my high school had said they would give me a full scholarship to any college I wanted - except Zion! I still chose God, and I am so glad that I did!
While at Zion, God provided the funds through many different people spontaneously giving money towards my tuition. I studied Children's Ministry under several pastors as well as Judy Mensch, a Children's Evangelist, who is now a missionary to the Netherlands. I graduated from Zion in 2005 with a Bachelor of the Bible and an Evangelical Teachers Association certicate. I did not pursue pastoral ordination, as my desire to teach in the public schools never went away and felt that now was the time to get licensed in teaching.
So, after Zion, I attended Framingham State University and earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education in 2009. I am licensed to teach preK-2nd grade in Massachusetts and am teaching in a Newton Public Schools Preschool.
I want to be a light in the schools and "be Jesus" to those kids even though I am not able to say His name. But I also have always had a passion for seeing children know Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him. It is important that all children have the opportunity to hear the gospel without being hindered, to grow in their relationship with God, and to set up an environment where the Holy Spirit can move and speak to His children. I desire New Hope Children's Ministry to be a place that is welcoming, safe and filled with the presence of God.
Lastly, I want to share a Scripture that has been close to my heart and vision for New Hope Children's Ministry. Luke 18:16: "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
